Went/gone fishing

I'm taking some time off from blogging for the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, please visit some of the incomparable links to the right.

Oh, Karl, we barely knew ye

If Lawrence O'Donnell is right, then Karl Rove will have to help select the next Supreme Court justice from behind bars. It will be interesting to see if George W. Bush stands by his earlier assurance that the outing of Valerie Plame "is a serious charge" and that "We're talking about a criminal action." It will be interesting to see, that is, how Bush reacts to his #1 - his voice and brains - having committed a crime that, from what I can tell, can get the perp up to twenty years in the slammer (see the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Intelligence Identities and Protection Act of 1982, for example).

There's something else that - if this is true - is worth noting. Judith Miller, the WMD-benefit-of-the-doubting journalist who writes for that liberal rag The New York Times, was refusing to hand over Rove's name to the grand jury. That's right: the Times chose defending journalistic freedom over getting Rove.

Nothing like a little White House treason scandal on Fourth of July weekend!
